My gelding is one of those horses who always feels tight through his back and hind end after harder rides. I’ve tried massage balls, stretches, liniment, pretty much everything. I started using the VitaWell massage gun after work and he actually leans into it now. The 8 heads cover so much more at once and I don’t have to stand there forever working one tiny spot. I honestly bought it thinking he might hate the vibration, but on the lowest setting he just drops his head and relaxes. It’s become part of our routine after every harder ride.

Why Does Your Horse Get So Tight?

Your horse uses massive muscle groups every time he works.

The shoulders stabilize movement.
The back supports the rider.
The hindquarters generate power.

After harder work, trailering, repetitive training or simply getting older, those muscles can feel tight and overworked.

And unlike us, your horse can’t exactly tell you:

“My left glute is killing me today.”

That tension often shows up through their body instead.

Relative Muscle Tension Post-Work Massage Recovery Ongoing Care

Often Unseen

A horse can look sound while still carrying uneven tension through the back, shoulders and hindquarters.

Recovery Matters

Percussion massage + red light help support muscular relaxation and recovery after work.

Large Muscle Groups Work Hard

The shoulders, back and hindquarters are doing the heavy lifting every time your horse trains, jumps, collects or travels.

Tightness Can Show Up Subtly

Muscle tension may look like stiffness at the start of a ride, sensitivity through the back, reluctance to bend or simply taking longer to loosen up.

Everyday Work Adds Up

It doesn’t take an injury. Repetitive training, trailering, competition schedules and age can all leave large muscle groups feeling tight and overworked.

Deep Massage Where Horses Hold Tension.

Support the areas doing more work than you realize.

The back, shoulders and hindquarters absorb a huge amount of force during training. Repetitive work can leave these areas feeling tight and overworked, especially after harder sessions.

✓ Helps relax large muscle groups
✓ 16-head design covers more area at once
✓ Ideal for shoulders, back and hindquarters

Keep hardworking muscles supported.

Percussion massage helps stimulate the tissue you’re working over, while the integrated red light adds another layer of targeted wellness support.

✓ Supports healthy circulation
✓ Combines massage + red light in one session
✓ Easy to work across large areas of the body

Make recovery part of the routine.

After harder rides, jumping, trailering or long training days, VitaWell gives you an easy way to work over the muscles that have been doing the most.

✓ Ideal after harder work
✓ Helps horses relax after training
✓ Supports a consistent recovery routine

Help tight muscles loosen before you tack up.

Some horses need a little more time to feel loose before work. A gentle VitaWell session can be used over the shoulders, back and hindquarters as part of your normal pre-ride routine.

✓ Great for stiff or older horses
✓ Adjustable intensity for a gentler start
✓ Easy to use before riding

Key Benefits

  • Improves user experience
  • Saves time and effort
  • Provides excellent value

Your Horse's Relaxation Journey

Consistency is key. Here’s how to build VitaWell into your horse’s routine.

Day 1

START WITH RELAXATION

Introduce VitaWell on the lowest setting while your horse is standing quietly. Start with the shoulders or hindquarters and let them get used to the sound and sensation before gradually moving across larger muscle groups.

Day 10

BUILD THE ROUTINE

Your horse begins to recognize the massage and settle into it faster. You may notice more head lowering, licking, chewing, softer posture, and less resistance when you work over tight areas after training.

Day 30

RECOVERY BECOMES A HABIT

VitaWell becomes part of your normal pre-ride or post-ride routine. Instead of waiting until your horse feels noticeably tight, you have an easy way to regularly work over the back, shoulders and hindquarters and support recovery before stiffness starts affecting the ride.

Got Questions? We've Got Answers!

Is this safe for daily use? +

Frequency depends on your horse, workload and intensity. Gentle sessions may fit into a regular routine, but you should always watch how your horse responds. We recommend 15 minute sessions, gradually adding more to your routine.

How long should I massage one area? +

Start with shorter sessions and see how your horse responds. You generally do not need to spend a long time aggressively working one area.

My horse is spooky. Will they tolerate it? +

Start slowly. Allow your horse to see and hear the device before placing it against them, then begin on the lowest setting.

How soon should I expect to notice a difference? +

Every horse is different. Some owners may notice changes in relaxation or comfort immediately, while others use it consistently as part of a longer-term wellness and recovery routine.

“The fact that this is cordless is honestly one of my favorite parts. I show almost every weekend and I didn’t want another therapy device that needed an outlet, extension cord or huge bag of equipment. I throw VitaWell in my tack trunk and use it at the stall, beside the trailer or while I’m getting ready to ride. My horse has never felt more relaxed under saddle and even on the ground.”

“I almost didn’t order because my mare is the type that has to investigate and remove EVERYTHING. Surprisingly, she couldn’t care less about VitaWell. I put it on while she’s in the cross ties and within a few minutes her eyes get heavy and her head starts dropping. Probably the calmest part of our grooming routine.”

“I bought this for my horse and now I’m the one stealing it for my nerve-damaged leg 😂 I fell off recently and red light is the only things that feels SOOO good on it. Sorry buddy… you can have it back when I’m done.”

"My horse is the worst cribber and always puts his tongue over the bit. The first time I used this he didn't look frantic to crib on something, and he was so relaxed for our ride as well and actually accepted the contact. He had a very old jaw injury and I think this is helping soothe any remaining pain from that too!!!"

“I bought it for the cribbing, but the first thing I noticed was how much less grabby and restless he was in the stall. He usually latches onto anything he can reach after dinner, but now he’ll actually stand there relaxed with his head low. The cribbing has dropped off massively, but honestly the calmer behavior is what sold me.”

“I love that it has the two different light modes, and the pulse setting is such a nice touch. I can switch it depending on what I’m using it for, and my horse gets so relaxed when it’s pulsing. It feels way more thought-out than just a basic red light pad.”
